5.4/10 "Dead Birds" is the kind of flick that you want to like, yet don't end up very disappointed when it turns out that you don't.
DEAD BIRDS is a film about the Dani, a people dwelling in the Grand Valley of the Baliem high in the mountains of West Irian. When I shot the film in 1961, the Dani had an almost classic Neolithic culture. They were exceptional in the way they focussed their energies and based their values on an elaborate system of intertribal warfare and revenge.
Dead Birds is a 2004 American Western horror film directed by Alex Turner, and starring Henry Thomas, Nicki Aycox, Isaiah Washington, Patrick Fugit, and Michael Shannon. The film centers on a group of deserters turned bank robbers who come face-to-face with supernatural forces while holing up in an abandoned plantation after robbing a bank.
I have to laugh when I see "Worst Movie Ever" as the title of a review. Check out Blood Woods (available free on Prime) and then try to say Dead Birds is bad.

Dead Birds is a 1963 documentary film by Robert Gardner about the Dani people of New Guinea. It was produced as part of the Harvard-Peabody Expedition to study the highlands of New Guinea, at that time one of the few remaining areas in the world uncolonized by Europeans.
A dead bird might be found near a feeder, window, roosting area or just in the middle of the yard. Some locations may be a clue to the cause of death – a bird near a large window may have died from a window collision, for example.
Since West Nile virus was discovered in the United States in 1999, the virus has been detected in over 300 species of dead birds. Although some infected birds, especially crows and jays, frequently die of infection, most birds survive.
